Partner Rick Chaves to Present at Palm Beach County Bar Association Bench Bar Conference on Handling Construction Defects Claims

Partner Rick Chaves will be presenting and participating in a panel on the topic of Handling Construction Defects Claims at the Palm Beach County Bar Association Bench Bar Conference.

Construction parties are faced with evaluating, presenting, or defending construction defect claims informally or through dispute resolution, and this presentation will provide key pointers on evidence, theories of liability, damages, and preparing to bring or defend defects claims. Many of the panelists, including Mr. Chaves, are Florida Bar Board Certified Construction Lawyers. The Bench Bar Conference will be held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center located West Palm Beach, Florida 33401, and Mr. Chaves’ presentation takes place from 2:45-3:45p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2019.

Rick Chaves is Board Certified by The Florida Bar in Construction Law. He represents contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, owners, developers, associations, bond sureties, and other commercial entities. Mr. Chaves has litigated and arbitrated numerous complex construction cases involving construction defects, lien law and bond disputes, and commercial general liability (CGL) insurance coverage. He also has extensive experience in representing parties in transactional construction law, such as the drafting, review, and negotiation of construction contracts and other types of construction industry documents such as construction liens and bond claims, claims for equitable adjustments, and collection claims.

Mr. Chaves is admitted to practice law in Florida and is also admitted in all Florida U.S. District Courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is AV Preeminent Peer-Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and earned his J.D. in 1997 from the University of Florida.
